excel - protect worksheet while keeping data validation working without macros -


i tried googling question can't seem find answer without using macros.

i have data validation in h1:h1000. cells have formulas in them. i'd prevent users deleting formulas, , @ same time allow drop down menu working. locking h1:h1000 & protecting them prevent users deleting formulas; however, disables drop down menu.
