monitoring - Centralizing email alerts -
we have thousands of email alerts our various systems. looking system sift through noise , structure info acute alerts.
i imagining email subscribing tool can categorize them automatically , manually, , let of them generate real alerts real people. instead of having real people sift through noise.
some of our alerts come using various providers of infra , services. ones hardest handle come our legacy in-house (micro) services.
example emails:
- hi name! important server disk 90% full. br, 1 of infra systems.
- many users stuff right now! queues long, know.
- this named operation failed because of known reason.
- unexpected error made customer nnn not cheeseburger. please fix manually.
- a raw stacktrace. (the legacy code works strategy if else fails, let's email error programmers ._.)
as see, require action, sources various , groups of people handle them dynamic. while more of log.
what thought of
- filtering in normal email clients - want away from.
- ticketing systems zendesk, feels on wrong end of problem
- improve code produces alerts. need system me current situation @ hand.
- talla.com (an ai driven ticketing system) seems of ticketing system , not sure if handle level of tech detail , timeliness conversational based. not sure if able produce elevated alerts.
